When it comes to my summer wardrobe, I tend to gravitate toward dresses and skirts. I’m not a big fan of shorts, and wearing jeans is what I do all year, so when I see a summer dress or skirt that catches my eye, I tend to buy it. The thing I love most about wearing a dress is it’s an easy outfit. No matching or coordinating needed.
For summer, I’m all about prints! I love a good floral, tropical, or fruit print. These just scream summer and they are so fun to wear. Besides a fun print, I also like my dresses to hit at or below the knee and have sleeves. I hate my knees and I’m all about dressing modest! Let’s be honest, no one wants to see a mom running around with her bra straps showing and her butt cheeks hanging out.
However, just because a dress doesn’t have sleeves, doesn’t steer me away. I’ll just add a thin tee underneath or layer a denim jacket or cardigan over top. I feel this gives you multiple ways to style the same dress.
The dress I’m wearing here is the perfect example. I’ve styled it by adding a white t-shirt underneath as well as adding a denim jacket. I love the way it turned out! Next time I wear this dress, I think I’ll wear a navy and white striped tee underneath, a straw hat, and some slip on sandals to give it a more casual look.
I say this a lot, but don’t be afraid to think a little out of the box when styling your outfits. As long as you love the outcome, that’s all that matters!
There are so many cute and modest dresses for moms this season! Check out all my favorites below. Let me know if you find one you love, I’m sure my closet could use a few more this summer.
