The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has begun. Last year I put a lot of time and effort into covering the sale, but this year I just don’t have the time, but that doesn’t mean I’m not shopping. The sale started for early access (Nordstrom credit card holders) at Midnight last night, and I was up until 2:00 a.m. shopping. That might sound crazy to some of you, but honestly, this sale is that good! Plus, I look forward to this sale each year, so I can stock up on a lot of the items I wear throughout the fall months.
Basics, sweaters, jeans, and shoes are what I tend to focus on. These are items that I’ll wear time and time again for years to come. Last year I ended up buying way more than I should have. I only ended up wearing a small amount of what I bought and still have pieces in my closet with the price tag on them. I tell you this so you’ll learn from my mistakes. Don’t buy something just because it’s a good deal. You’ll ALWAYS be able to find a sale. Only buy what you know you’ll wear and what you need. If you have 5 blue sweaters, don’t buy another because it’s at a good price point. Choose another color, or put that money towards something you don’t already own, like a great pair of booties. Trust me on this, it’s the best way to grow your closet.
1. Topshop Long Open Front Cardigan – I ordered this in Cream, but it comes in 3-4 colors. I think I may also get the pink one as well.
2. BP. Balloon Sleeve Sweater – I went with the red/pink color. It does come in two other colors, and I purchased a small.
3. Topshop Colorblock Knit Pullover – I have a feeling this sweater will be one of the first items to sell out. Pretty much every blogger I follow ended up getting this one. Reviews say it runs small, so I ordered one size up.
4. BP. Stitch Curve Hem Cardigan – I grabbed this cardigan because the color is gorgeous! Plus, one can never have too many cardigans in my opinion. I went with a size small.
5. Topshop Chevron Fine Gauge Sweater – I have a feeling I’m either going to love or hate this sweater. I just loved the uniqueness of it. I’ll let you know my thoughts once I get it. I sized up in this sweater as well.
- Topshop Lily Knit Back Midi Coat – I’ve been wanting to add a camel colored coat to my fall wardrobe forever. This one is a great price point! Plus I love that under the collar and pockets the material is red.
- BP. Ruffle Sleeve Print Shirt – Loving the floral print for fall!!
- KUT From Kloth Donna Release Hem Jeans – I love everything about these jeans!
- BP. Plaid Shirt – I picked this plaid shirt up last year in the green colorway. It’s great to wear alone or layered! It comes in 6 colors.
- BP. Raw Edge V-Neck Tee – This is another item I purchased last year. It comes in 7 colors and is under $12.
- Black Hunter Boots – Have these and love them! I always go down a half to full size in Hunter boots.
- BP. Tonya Open Toe Mule – Love, Love , Love these mules! I got them in the blush color.
- Thread & Supply Wubbly Fleece Pullover – Purchased this last year. It’s so cozy and warm.
- Hinge Mix Print Top – This shirt is going to be a favorite for fall. Love the colors and the pattern mixing. I got it in a small.
Everything in the photos above I either already own, (purchased from last year’s sale) or bought this year. Because I purchased everything online this year, I won’t be able to comment on sizing. My advice, if you are debating between two sizes, order both, and then return the one that doesn’t fit. Items sell out extremely fast and you don’t want you to miss out on getting your right size.
If you aren’t a Nordstrom credit card holder, then you can begin shopping when public access starts on July 20. Last year, Nordstrom restocked a bunch of items that had sold out, so don’t stress too much. There will be plenty to shop!

With summer, come many different activities. Whether it be walking around the zoo, an amusement park, the water park, a parade, vacationing, or shopping, these all involve being on your feet for most of the day. If I know I’m going to be doing a lot of walking, I want to wear a shoe or sandal that is going to keep my feet feeling comfortable. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been on vacation and chosen stylish over comfort and every single time, I end up regretting it about an hour into our day. This is where Naot sandals come in. Let’s talk hair. Too be honest, I’m not a big fan of my hair. It’s super thick, hard to manage, frizzy, does not hold the style throughout the day, and did I mention, really thick? I’ve said for the longest time, I’ll be first on board to shave my head when that’s the new hair trend for women. Seriously! My hair takes forever to do every morning, not because I’m a perfectionist, but because there is just so dang much of it! Then once it’s done, the “style” only lasts about an hour before it’s fallen flat because it’s so heavy.
I use heat on my hair everyday, so it tends to dry out quickly and is somewhat heat damaged. I wish I didn’t have to wash and curl my hair everyday, but in my opinion, my hair only looks good curled and I have to use so much hairspray to keep the style looking decent, that it’s hard to go 2-3 days without washing it. Honestly, doing my hair is the thing I look forward to least, every. single. day.
It was time for a fresh cut and color and with summer here, I wanted to add a little more blonde to my hair. Enter Aveda! I recently visited Centre Salon in Fashion Place Mall for a cut and color, and I had the most amazing experience! It’s always a little nerve racking to go to a new salon and see a new stylist, but McKenzie was fantastic! She made me feel at ease right from the very beginning.
McKenzie asked me what I had in mind and I let her know my thoughts and then she proceeded to make my hair Amazing! I’m not just saying that, it’s the truth. She started by adding enlightener to my hair and let that sit for about 20 minutes. While the enlightener was doing it’s magic, I was treated to a Stress-Relieving hand ritual (hand massage). It really did help me relax and I felt as if I were at the spa, instead of getting my hair done. Once it was time to rinse off the enlightener, McKenzie used a beige toner on my hair and then washed it with the Aveda Color Conserve Shampoo and Conditioner. Because my hair had quite a bit of heat damage, she also did a deep conditioner treatment on my hair using the Damage Remedy Treatment. The great thing about Aveda products, is they are all naturally derived and have quinoa protein in them that helps repair and strengthen your hair.
Next came the haircut. I just wanted the dead ends cut off, the layers touched up, and my hair thinned out. Now here is where magic took place! McKenzie mentioned that it looked like in the past, my hair was only being thinned out near the ends, and the crown is where I had all the bulk. She offered to thin out the bulk! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I’m not kidding when I say I feel 10 pounds lighter. Oh it looks and feels SO much better!
I had mentioned to McKenzie that I never wear my hair straight because I think it just looks and feels so heavy. She wanted to style it straight and see what I thought, now that she had touched up the layers and thinned it out. Before she started blow drying my hair, she added some of the Damage Repair Heat Protector and Smooth Infusion products to my damp hair. I gotta say, for the first time in a long time, I actually liked the look of the straight hair. However, curls are my thing, so she styled it with those beachy waves I’ve been trying to achieve for 5 years. The trick, twisting the hair as you’re taking it our of the curling iron, then letting the curls sit for 15-20 minutes before running your fingers through them. Pure Magic! Honest to goodness, best curl I’ve ever had in my hair, and no hairspray needed.
