Mom Life

Being a mom is a tough job! There are good days and there are bad days. There are days where I am so proud of the humans my kids are turning into, and then there are days where I honestly wonder where they came from. Case in point, the other day my 11 year old son corrected me on a math problem. When I told him, I was sure I was right, he quickly let me know that I didn’t solve the problem correctly because I didn’t use the order of operations. Order of what? By this time, my 14 year old had joined in on the conversation, and they were both trying to explain to me this thing known as order of operations. I still don’t quite understand. However, I was proud of my sons for knowing this. These are the same two sons, who at times I wonder how they will survive in life, because neither one of them knows how to properly dispose of garbage. They both have garbage cans in their bedroom, and we have one in every room of the house. Yet, when they are finished with a granola bar, they throw the wrapper on the floor, leave it on the counter or shove it behind their bed.  For some reason, they think this is easier. Have a new shirt? They just rip the tag off and drop it on the ground. How can an 11 and 14 year old understand complex math and read well above grade level, yet not know how to use a garbage can or close a cupboard? At these times, I feel as though I have somehow failed as a mom. But have I really?

I recently read an article that stated, “if a stay at home mom were to get paid, her annual salary would be $143,102.00.” That is unbelievable! They broke it down by figuring the stay at home mom works 92 hours a week doing the following jobs:

Housekeeper
Cook
Day Care Teacher
Facilities Manager
Computer Operator
Psychologist
Janitor
Van Driver
Laundry Machine Operator
CEO
Bookkeeper
Event Planner
Groundskeeper
General Maintenance Manager
Interior Designer
Logistics Analyst
Nutritionist
Plumber
Nurse

After seeing this list, no wonder why at times I feel overwhelmed and like I can’t stay on top of things.  Sometimes I feel like I’m failing in the mom department. There is a lot a mom needs to do each and everyday. However, I think the main thing we need to remember as moms is that in the long run our kids won’t care if we didn’t throw them the best Birthday Party Pinterest had to offer, or that every meal wasn’t considered to be fine dining. What matters in the long run, is that they feel unconditional love and support from us.

With Mother’s Day this weekend, take time to write your mom a note of appreciation, give her a call, send her flowers, or buy her a gift, but most of all tell her “Thank You” for all she has done for you. Momming ain’t easy and our moms need to know that we truly do appreciate all the time, sweat, tears, and love they put in on a daily basis.

Still looking for the perfect Mother’s Day Gift idea?  Here are some easy ideas that will mean a lot without breaking the bank.

  1. A homemade card.
  2. Being told “Thank You!”
  3. Helping clean up around the house.
  4. A gift card to her favorite store or restaurant.
  5. Time for herself.
  6.  Light Box c/o
  7. Lipsense
  8. Necklace with the initials of her children’s names.

HASK Hair Products

I’m going to share a big secret, I hate my hair!  I always have, and to be honest, I probably always will.  Let me tell you why.  My hair is so thick, that it is difficult to brush through, blow dry, style, hold a style, and a lot of the time I feel like I’m wearing a mushroom on my head, due to the volume.  I feel like the only way my hair looks half decent, is to wear it down, and curled.  Therefore, I am applying a lot of heat to my hair every single day! Plus, I recently (within the last 9 months) started adding color to my hair as well, and I live in a very dry climate. To say my hair takes a beating, is an understatement.

I’d been noticing that my hair was starting to lack shine and was harder than normal to style.  I don’t know if this is due to my recent coloring, the cold dry winter we’ve just had, if I was needing a haircut, or what the deal was.  So when I was contacted by HASK, to try out and review their new Exotic Oils Collection, I was excited.  I was able to choose between their three new lines and because I felt that my hair was drying out and lacking moisture and shine, I opted for their Orchid & White Truffle Moisture Rich Collection.  ” The moisture-rich shampoo, conditioner and deep conditioner re-hydrate and add shine to instantly improve the look and feel of dull locks.” This is definitely what my hair was in need of.

My first impression before even trying itis that the packaging is eye catching and looks like a quality product lies within those bottles.  Second, the smell is absolutely heavenly!  I mean Orchid and White Truffle, does it really get any better?  Third, the shampoo lathers up really nicely and the conditioner, well it was magic in a bottle.  As soon as I rinsed the conditioner out of my hair, I could feel a difference.  My hair was softer and I knew brushing through my hair would be less of a pain. Not only was my hair easier to brush, but I kid you not, styling my hair was easier and faster than ever before.  I don’t know why, but I didn’t have to re-curl multiple strands, the hair just curled, and stayed curled all day long.  My hair has it’s shine and luster back, it doesn’t feel and look as dry.  I love the way it feels, soft and manageable, as well as being tangle and frizz free. All this after just one wash. I’m not saying this just because this is a sponsored post, I’m saying this because the product really is that wonderful!  Don’t believe me?  Give it a shot yourself.  You can purchase the  HASK Orchid & White Truffle Moisture Rich Collection at most drugstores including, Walgreens, Target, Walmart, and Ulta.

One Bag Two Ways with Embrazio Leather

When looking for a new bag, I always tend to lean towards the mid to large size bags.  I think the reason being, is as a mom, I feel like I can’t leave my house without storing everything inside my bag that myself or my kids might need throughout the day.  Kleenex, gum, wallet, keys, lip gloss, cell phone, charger, snacks, hairspray, sanitary products, wipes, sunglasses, and the list continues to go on.  By the time I’ve been out and about for an hour, my shoulder/arm feels like it has been carrying around a 10 pound weight instead of a bag.  Can anyone relate?

This collaboration with Embrazio couldn’t have come at a better time.  A few weeks ago, I was noticing (and even mentioned to my husband) that even hours after coming home and hanging up my purse for the day, my arm/shoulder was still hurting.  This went on for a few weeks, and the idea came to mind that maybe I should look at getting a smaller, crossbody bag, and put my satchel bags away for a little while.

Embrazio sent me this beautiful Stretta Small Leather Crossbody  bag and it has been the perfect fit.  The leather is soft, the look fashionable, and the size is perfect to hold my necessities– phone, lip gloss, keys, and wallet.  I could fit a few more items, such as a pack of gum or some snacks if need be, but I’m trying to minimize what I carry around and I find that I’m actually liking having only the basics with me. Another plus, my bag isn’t filling up with unnecessary junk… receipts, wrappers, napkins, straw wrappers, you get the picture.

I love the gold color of this bag as well.  It goes with everything and is perfect for the spring and summer, but will also transition nicely to the fall and winter.  The gold is definitely a win! Plus the zippers and tassels just add that fun, fashionable touch.

Ready for the best part? The Stretta Small Leather Crossbody bag converts easily from a crossbody bag to a belt hip bag.  Remove the shoulder strap, slide a belt through the “hidden leather channel in the back,” and viola! A hip bag!  I love the option this provides, especially when traveling.  I feel like I always have a lot to carry with me when I’m on vacation, shopping bags, umbrella, jacket, etc. so having my bag with me, but around my waist is the perfect way to go, plus it’s much more stylish than a “fanny pack.”
