I’ve lived in Utah my entire life, and the cold weather here lasts way too long. Two years ago, the thought came to me– If I’m wearing a coat 5-6 months out of the year, why do I wear the same coat every day? Literally, I owned one coat. I wore it to the store, on date nights, to church, everywhere! It was red and black and I had worn it for so many years, that the color had started to fade. I guess the good news is, I definitely got my moneys worth.
I have since upped my coat game. I have coats for the snow, for nicer occasions, and more casual coats for everyday life. My newest addition is this tweed coat. The colors are perfect for fall and it’s on the lighter side for those cooler (but not freezing) days. Plus, the price tag will shock you! That’s the great thing about coats. You don’t have to spend a fortune (but can if you’d like) to add some fun coat options to your closet.

Let’s talk about another way to incorporate that popular fall color, Marigold, into your wardrobe. Marigold sweaters, cardigans, and scarves are the norm when it comes to that deep yellow color, and I, along with lots of you, have plenty of those items in my closet. So when I saw these pants, I knew I had to have them for fall. Not to mention, the belt and pockets were an added plus. Since the fall brings cooler temps, I tend to wear jeans 95% of the time during the fall and then right on through the winter months. This gets super old, mundane, and downright boring. So, a fun colorful pair of pants, is a good way to spice things up a bit.
For this look, I paired the belted trousers with this ivory colored lace blouse, from Mostly Mia, a pair of neutral colored heels, and simple jewelry, and I loved the end result. There are so many styling options when it comes to these pants. Pair them with a black turtleneck, a leopard print blouse, striped turtleneck or sweater, a thin crewneck sweater, or a white tee and denim jacket. Endless options.
This fall, step outside the box and add something different than you normally would to your wardrobe. I promise, when you’ve been wearing jeans for two weeks straight, you’ll be glad to have another option.

On the Red Carpet with Shiloh the dog, who plays Pluto, in “The Stray,” and his trainer.
These are the real men who the story is about and the kid actors who portray them.
Me, Scott Christopher (who plays Dave), and my sister in law, Liz.
The weekend is finally here! If you are looking for something to do this weekend…say for date night, a night out with friends, or a night out with your family, I highly suggest going to see the movie, “The Stray.”
I was lucky enough to attend the premiere screening of “The Stray” a couple nights ago, and I was so impressed with this movie. I had not seen the trailer, so I was expecting it to be a film focused solely on a dog. This is not the case at all. The movie is a true story about the Davis family and a stray dog, “Pluto, who appears from out of nowhere just in time to save a family that is falling apart. Pluto is not only a guard dog – he’s a guardian angel. Sometimes help comes in the most unlikely forms. Sometimes prayers are answered in the most unlikely ways. Sometimes one dog can change everything.” In light of everything that has taken place in Las Vegas this week, it was great to see a movie that focuses on love and family. In fact, I left the movie wanting to go out and get our family a dog. If you know me, then you will find this as surprising as I did, because I am so not a pet person.
The movie is directed by Mitch Davis, (who also directed the film “The Other Side of Heaven,” which starred Anne Hathaway and Christopher Gorham) with Sarah Lancaster, David Cassidy, Connor Corum, Scott Christopher (many from Utah will recognize Scott from Granite Flats), and Jacque Gray as the main cast. I worked with Scott on Granite Flats and Jacque in a commercial, so it was fun to watch them in this film. The entire cast did a phenomenal job!
The film opens today, October 6 in 600 theaters nationwide. To find out if “The Stray” is being shown at a theater near you, or to purchase tickets, click here.
After you see the movie, come back and let me know your thoughts. Oh, and just a piece of advice, take some Kleenex with you, you just might need it.
