The Tweed Coat

I’ve lived in Utah my entire life, and the cold weather here lasts way too long.  Two years ago, the thought came to me– If I’m wearing a coat 5-6 months out of the year, why do I wear the same coat every day?  Literally, I owned one coat. I wore it to the store, on date nights, to church, everywhere! It was red and black and I had worn it for so many years, that the color had started to fade. I guess the good news is, I definitely got my moneys worth.

I have since upped my coat game.  I have coats for the snow, for nicer occasions, and more casual coats for everyday life.  My newest addition is this  tweed coat.  The colors are perfect for fall and it’s on the lighter side for those cooler (but not freezing) days. Plus, the price tag will shock you!  That’s the great thing about coats.  You don’t have to spend a fortune (but can if you’d like) to add some fun coat options to your closet.

Marigold Pants for Fall

Let’s talk about another way to incorporate that popular fall color, Marigold, into your wardrobe.  Marigold sweaters, cardigans, and scarves are the norm when it comes to that deep yellow color, and I, along with lots of you, have plenty of those items in my closet.  So when I saw these pants, I knew I had to have them for fall.  Not to mention, the belt and pockets were an added plus. Since the fall brings cooler temps, I tend to wear jeans 95% of the time during the fall and then right on through the winter months. This gets super old, mundane, and downright boring.  So, a fun colorful pair of pants, is a good way to spice things up a bit.

For this look, I paired the belted trousers with this ivory colored lace blouse, from Mostly Mia, a pair of neutral colored heels, and simple jewelry, and I loved the end result. There are so many styling options when it comes to these pants.  Pair them with a black turtleneck, a leopard print blouse, striped turtleneck or sweater, a thin crewneck sweater, or a white tee and denim jacket.  Endless options.

This fall, step outside the box and add something different than you normally would to your wardrobe.  I promise, when you’ve been wearing jeans for two weeks straight, you’ll be glad to have another option.

Fall Fashion with Shopko

Fall fashion has to be my favorite!  I love the deep jewel tone colors that come with fall, the chunky sweaters, over the knee boots, scarves, cardigans, and layering. Fall, is a great time to dress in layers, at least here in the state of Utah.  The mornings are cool and crisp, with the afternoons warming up, and then dropping again come dusk.  I love grabbing a top that I know will get me through the afternoon, and then adding a denim jacket, cardigan, or scarf to keep me warm in the morning and evening hours.

This cute A&I Strappy Neck Top from Shopko, is the perfect top for layering.  It’s cute worn alone with a pair of jeans or tucked into a denim skirt and it has the fun “strappy” neckline…so no jewelry needed. This top also looks nice layered under a denim or leather jacket, blazer, or cardigan. For this look, I layered the top with this plaid A&I Triangle Scarf also found at Shopko and I love the way it turned out.

I’m clueless when it comes to what is on trend for men’s fashion this fall.  However, when I saw this A&I Long Sleeve Henley I knew that one, my husband would actually like it and wear it, two, I liked it and thought it would be a great staple for him this season, and three, it wasn’t a t-shirt or button down, so I bought it for him! It looks great paired here with a dark pair of denim and gray casual shoes.  I think this henley would also look nice worn under a flannel shirt or leather jacket.

If you’re looking to update your fall wardrobe, I highly suggest checking out Shopko.  They’ve got some great new brands in store and online, including their exclusive brand A&I.  To see some more of my favorite fall fashion items at Shopko, check out my board here.
